About Us
We are young workers, young families, college and high school students–ages 14-35–who are committed to the Democratic values that make America strong and provide opportunity for all. As the official voice for young people in the Democratic Party of Orange County, OCYD is a network of Young Democrat activists that are helping to provide a Democratic presence throughout Orange County communities, colleges and high school campuses.
Let’s be honest: Republicans have failed us. They have failed our families, our friends, our co-workers and our classmates. Now is the time to utilitize our generation’s immense political power by steering Orange County in a new direction through our voices in the streets and our votes in the ballot boxes.
Since 1998, OCYD has taken unprecedented action in our community for local, statewide, and national campaigns to build a vast, effective bloc of young voters for the Democratic Party. There are now over ten college and high school Young Democrats chapters throughout Orange County creating an army of young Orange County Democrat activists and voters.
In 2010 alone, we have broken records through our overwhelming invasions of Assembly districts 72 and 68, earning us Project of the Year from our statewide coalition California Young Democrats. We have contacted thousands of our peers and proved to through dedication to equality, justice and choice that that when we vote for Democrats, our generation wins.
Our generation’s votes will swing elections and bring real change to America. Republicans have failed us too many times; let’s show them who this generation knows will fight for us by turning Orange County BLUE!
