Nick Anas, Chair
Nick is an Orange County native raised in La Habra. He became politically active during the 2008 Democratic primaries while attending the University of California Santa Barbara, where he received a BA in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations in June 2008.
After moving back to Orange County in September 2008 he volunteered and became a Canvass Director for the California Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign in Santa Ana. After the election he interned for the Democratic Party of Orange County. He was the Assistant Campaign Manager for the Beth Krom for Congress campaign during the 2010 elections. Nick was elected OCYD Political Director in April 2009. In April of 2010 he was elected Chair of Orange County Young Democrats. He is currently an Associate at Daily Consulting, a fundraising and political consulting firm.

Jose Vargas, Political Director
Jose first became politically active in Las Vegas, NV where he worked vigorously on Senator Obama’s Presidential Campaign in 2008. He attended the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona where he was active through the Political Science Club and NMUN. After graduating with a BA in Political Science he moved back to his home town of La Habra where he immediately signed up with the Democratic Party of Orange County as an intern in the winter of 09.
After a few months, Jose was elected as Communications Director for the Orange County Young Democrats and greets all members with event reminders and official news from OCYD. Jose worked as the assistant campaign manager for the Lorri Galloway for County Supervisor 2010 campaign. He currently serves as the Director of Partnerships with the East Street Community Renewal Initiative (ESCRI), a Non-Profit Place-based initiative in the city of Anaheim.
Jonathan Barba, Communications Director
Jonathan graduated in May 2010 from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, emphasis in Public Relations. At Cal State Fullerton Jonathan organized lobbying delegations as Statewide Affairs Coordinator for Associated Students Lobby Corps. During the 2008 election cycle Jonathan lead a record setting voter registration drive at CSUF, registering 1,344 students in three months. In 2008 Jonathan also interned for at the Democrats of North Orange County 2008 campaign. In the 2010 election cycle Jonathan served as Social Media Coordinator for the Beth Krom for Congress Campaign and Field Coordinator for the Doug Chaffee for Fullerton City Council.

Melissa Stern, Outreach Director
Melissa is currently a Graduate Student in Education at the University of California, Irvine. This past election season she worked as the Orange County Coordinator of the Jerry Brown Campaign, where she learned how exciting campaigns can be.
During her undergraduate at the University of California, Los Angeles she majored in History and minored in Political Science and Education Studies. Upon graduate she was awarded Latin Honors, Departmental Honors and membership to Phi Beta Kappa for her high academic achievement.
While at UCLA she had the opportunity to intern for Senator Barbara Boxer in Los Angeles and Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher in Washington D.C. She is looking forward to her first year with Orange County Young Democrats and like Danielle, really enjoys peanut butter flavored frozen yogurt.
